Duties and Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas

• Student care: The House Father must ensure the provision of an environment within the residence which is conducive to the development and success of its students at the Residence. Expected to do Health and Safety trainings (First Aid and Fire fighting).
• Student discipline: He is required to ensure that the Student Disciplinary Code and other Residence/House regulations are adhered to and the appropriate disciplinary action taken where necessary.
• Staff management: The House Father must ensure that any Assistant House Father and/or Housing Committee within the residence execute their responsibilities.
• Resource management: The House Father must ensure that the inventory of the house and its immediate precincts is maintained in good order and that loss of and damage to movable assets (furniture, blankets, curtains, carpets, etc.) are kept to a minimum and/or eradicated.
• Service Monitoring: The House Father must monitor the provision of quality services (housekeeping and utility) of the residence; Practicum activities, cleaning of the building, Work closely with Housing Committee and general students reporting, the lack thereof to the Campus Manager or an officer appointed by him.
• Additional duties and responsibilities: The House Father may be required to assume additional responsibility or perform any reasonable additional duties as assigned by the Campus Manager or the officer appointed by Campus Manager from time to time within the scope of the job.
• Commitment to Students: The Residence House Father is expected to interact with students in a friendly and caring manner, assisting students in their transition from teenager to young adult; This includes assisting any student who is experiencing academic or personal problems; taking an interest in the sporting and social activities in the residence and encouraging involvement in cultural activities in the residence and in the institution and may refer students to the relevant Officers for counselling etc.
• Commitment towards Health and Safety: The Residence House Father must conduct regular fire, emergency and safety checks and drills in the residences in consultation with the Health and Safety Officer. Expected to be in the residence at all the time or make alternative arrangements for a relief system with existing team members through the Campus Manager or an Officer appointed by him/her.
• General Challenges
- Managing conflict within the residence;
- Managing the multi-cultural dynamics of the residence, striving to ensure that all student needs are met; Referring/Counselling students who are having difficulties in coping with Campus life and/or their academic commitments, also managing Assistants (Housing Committee) who are not executing their responsibilities.

Requirements: Appropriate Degree is essential. Postgraduate qualification is advantageous.


• Minimum of four years' experience of charity fundraising, with a verifiable track record of personal achievement.

• At least two years' experience of managing a multidisciplinary fundraising team, with a verifiable track record of successful team development.

• Developed experience in at least three of the following fundraising areas - community, corporate, trust, statutory, major donor, events and legacies.

• Computer literate and able to work with MS packages
